Inquiries.

Commonly asked questions concerning our materials, the behavior of our pieces over time, and custom atelier services.

Is the jewelry terribly heavy to wear? +

Surprisingly, no. Although the aesthetic is heavy and brutal, we inject a microscopic volume of architectural expanding agents into our matrix. This makes our pieces surprisingly buoyant on the body, generally weighing similar to solid gold equivalents.

Will the concrete shatter if I drop it? +

Concrete is extraordinarily strong under compression, but somewhat brittle in tension. Dropping it directly onto a stone floor or hard ceramic tile holds the very real possibility of fracturing the piece. Treat the object with respect. It is strong, not immortal.

Does water or swimming ruin the texture? +

Water inherently does not dissolve our cured UHPC mix. However, exposure to high chlorine levels, sulfur (like hot springs), and heavy perfumes will accelerate the oxidization of the raw silver and can temporarily embed into the pores of the concrete. It is heavily recommended to remove the jewelry while showering or swimming.

Why exist little holes and color changes on my ring? +

This is a deliberate element. Trapped air escapes during the pouring and vibrating process, leaving microscopic voids on the surface. We do not sand or fill these holes. They represent the breathing nature of the creation process and ensure no two objects are absolutely identical. That flaw is precisely what you are purchasing.

Do you offer custom commissions or modifications? +

We take on a maximum of six bespoke commissions per year. Because it takes weeks to create the custom silicone matrix forms for pouring the concrete, bespoke orders are an extensive dialogue. Please contact our atelier directly to inquire about the waiting list.
